Breaking the Cycle of Poverty in Nepal
AEF International has invested in Grace Culinary Academy (GCA) in Dukuchhap, Nepal to help break the bondage of poverty experienced by countless Nepalese.
In 2019 we bought a piece of land and in 2020 we constructed a school for primary students and on the same property we built an industrial kitchen and classrooms to train chefs for the hospitality industry.
We are in the first year of operation with 12 students who are being trained by an international chef, Yomal in international and South Asian cuisines.
Our goal is to help these students who come from poor families to break the cycle of poverty that their families have experienced for generations.
One of the students Pradhan — travels more than 35 kilometres from home to come to GCA: “…my hope is that I will be the first wage earner in my family, and I can help my brothers and sisters to also have a decent education” says Pradhan who can’t afford the fees.
After the one year intensive we hope to place these students for a 1-month internship program in 5- star hotels in Nepal for experience and exposure to the nuances of the hospitality industry.
It costs $150 per month to support one student for the 1-year program. We are hoping to raise $21,600 for the first year of operations. Your prayers and gifts will help us break the cycle of poverty in one of the poorest nations in Asia.
